The meeting was called to order by president Roy Clark at 6:30, those present were Barry
Sturdivant, John Hatch, Ed Somers, Scott Hatch, Gerry Smith, Curt Reynolds, Roy Clark,
Marilyn Hatch, and event coordinator, Wendy Gallant . Absent: Ralph Hatt.
Minutes:
G. Smith pointed out that the treasurers report did not add up correctly, C.
Reynolds will check his figures for the error. G. Smith moved to accept the 6/22/08
minutes, except for the totals in the treasurers report, B. Sturdivant 2nd. Motion passed.

Membership to SPOOM? - Scribners Mill did not receive the April issue of the Old
Mill News and they no longer have a link to our web site. C. Reynolds had a copy of the
bill paid in March, however, it was not cashed until May. M. Hatch will e-mail the new
membership chairman to check what has happened to our membership.
J. Hatch moved and G. Smith 2nd to accept the Treasurers report. Motion passed.
Correspondence:
Bob Dunning Bridge - A letter was received requesting a donation for the construction of
the Bob Dunning Memorial Bridge. M. Hatch to make contact with Loon Echo as to having a
display at Back to the Past with a donation jar.
Announcements:
BTTP -
Report - W. Gallant
Ads - C. Reynolds moved and G. Smith 2nd that we spend up to $300 for block ads, in
priority order Portland Press Herald, Lewiston Sun Journal, Lake region. Motion passed.
Sponsors - To date we have $1340 in sponsorships which includes in-kind sponsors, plus 4
tickets to the Deertrees Theater. S. Hatch suggested a call to Beacon Sales for a donation
since we will be buying roofing for the Long Shed soon. Sponsor will include The Barn
Wright and Ed Somers , Woodworking. E. Somers to get info to R. Clark.
Publicity - The press release was sent to 13 publications, It was in the Oxford Observer
and the Bridgton News so far. Calendar listing for the pig roast will go out this week for
the Public Supper sections.
Report - M. Hatch -
Boy Scouts - Assistant leader called and is to call back. It was suggested that they sell
shingles for a $1 and them nail to mill el.
Tractor Club - Members will not be attending as a club.
Set up - Sunday July 27 1:00
To do - Weed wack corner around sign, Roy will do
move tractors and timber, Barry and Gerry will try
Posters - Need one to go to Fair Market in Norway - Barry to put out
Small signs out Monday 28th - Gerry and Marilyn to do
Volunteers - 1 needed for the Childrens area - Wendy Gallant will fill that spot.
Pick up grill at Katrinas Friday Aug 1 - Roy will try to do it.
Time to start exhibit registration - 8:00, Bob Winship will help Gordon which will free up
Curt.
Amy Rowes # - Curt will get e-mail address for Marilyn
Brian Winslow will be here the Thursday before to set up tractors, Gerry would like to be
able to make staves that day for the barrels.

Reply to the responses have been completed
Mike Thompson - Response to the Portland Water District - was that they are over extending
their area of concern and that we need not respond except to water quality.
Letter to Editor - R. Clark has sent our letter to The Maine Sportsman
Rep Sykes reported that he spoke with the head of the DEP and felt that the response was
positive. He would like to have a copy of our reply and suggested a follow up meeting with
all concerned.
Committees:
Mill - J. Hatch
Long Shed - several boards to finish the sheathing for the roof. G. Smith will be here on
Tues with Tony Alves to finish the roof.
The extra shingle mill saw blade needs to be mounted on the wall.
Barrel bench - G. Smith will have the bench completed and ready for the metal parts. G.
Smith suggested keeping the same price as last year if the person helps make a barrel. He
hopes that we will have some made up ahead of time that we can sell for more. Rick Jackson
had reported that the metal work should be finished this week for the bench.
S. Hatch will move the wagons etc. from barn to long shed the week-end of the 26th.
The line shaft in the long shed is almost complete, one more day should complete the
project.
Long range planning - S. Hatch - no report
Public Relations - R. Clark
Maine Tourism - Brochure, Harrison Historical Society voted to continue to sharing the
expense of the tourism flyer.
Web Site - Roy will list the sponsors on our website.
Promotional Brochure - three sold to date. (Dana Murch replied that only one brochure was
required for our submission.)
Education/Site Interpretation - E. Somers
The newsletter was dropped of at Sally Dunnings, but no contact has been made.
Maine Humanities Grant - no action, will get together with M. Hatch after BTTP History
Channel Grant - no action
Lumber procurement - B. Sturdivant
Siding for the Long Shed has been cut, fire wood for the 3rd Maine is in place, will cut
wood for the stave and shingles.
Membership - G. Reynolds - No report
Nominations - G. Smith asked both Curt Reynolds and John Hatch if they would serve another
term. Both have accepted. Ralph Hatt will be asked if he will serve another term as V.
Pres. One vacancy to be filled.
Old Business:
Timber Frame - Ed Somers $1,800 for frame only. E. Somers to check his paper work as to
price asked before.
Scribner Book - No report
Scanning - Disapointed with the resolution, E. Somers to check his scanner for resolution.
Roland Hannaford gift - Gift of equipment has been received. R. Hatt has the paper work
for the gift.
Clapboard Machine - No report
Golf Cart reimbursement $1000 - no action
New Business:
Annual Meeting - Due to a birthday party for Bourdon Scribner on the 16th from 1 - 4, the
annual meeting will be held at 6:30 at the homestead. A poster will be placed at the sales
booth at BTTP. It was suggested that we check with the local library for a Power Point
projector for Dans presentation. G. Smith has a screen.
Documentary - R. Clark reported that Dan Sussi has approached him with a interest in doing
a documentary of Scribners Mill. He would sell to us at a discount which we could
then resell. It was felt that we would like more time to consider this request and that we
would like to see a sample of what he produces. G. Smith spoke in opposition to this idea,
because of an experience he had with the Historical Society. E. Somers suggested that R.
Clark write a letter informing him that he has permission to film at BTTP but he is not to
market or use what he gathers for commercial purposes until the board has had time to
consider his proposal. S. Hatch so moved, Curt Reynolds 2nd , those in favor 6, 1 opposed,
1 abstained.
New letter head and updated membership forms needed.
The next meeting will be scheduled in October.
